Black Day – Kashmir: Key to Peace in South Asia
October 26, 2018 @ 14:00 - 17:00
The Kashmir Council-EU is pleased to invite you to our annual conference: Black Day ‘Kashmir: Key to Peace in South Asia’, which will take place in the Press Club Brussels on 26 Oct 2018, from 14h00-17h00.
Every year the people in this divided region mark October 27 as a “black day” to protest the decades-old “Indian military occupation”. On the 27th of October, it will be 71 years since Indian forces arrived in Srinagar, so beginning the Indian occupation of Kashmir. Since then, the people of Kashmir have suffered greatly under the Indian forces, while the Indian government repeatedly refuses to hold the plebiscite demanded by the United Nations.
The Kashmir Council-EU will mark this Black Day by holding a conference at the Press Club. For 71 years, the Indian government have been ignoring the calls of the UN, of human rights experts, of international politicians, and, most importantly, of the Kashmiri people within the country and around the world. Kashmir is the key to peace in the region, and Kashmiris will keep on struggling for the right to self-determination. It is not merely a conflict between two countries over a piece of land, but a human tragedy.
Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If you wish to attend you will need to register via the following link: https://goo.gl/forms/elzV6i45w94PqEt72.
